President’s Corner

Dear AUSA Supporter,

Thank you for your support of our great organization! I’m Rocky Kmiecik, and I’m proud to be serving as the President of the Chattahoochee Valley / Fort Benning AUSA Chapter. This Chapter belongs to all of us, and together, we continue our tradition of helping Soldiers and families.

The past year has been difficult, but we continue to remain focused first on supporting scholarships and awards for Soldiers and families, supporting unit/organization activities, and supporting the command of the Maneuver Center of Excellence and Fort Benning. We count on the great support of our membership, our industry partners, and our outstanding volunteers to make this happen.

This year, for our 2021 scholarship program, we awarded seven scholarships totaling $11,500. Each year we plan on awarding a minimum of two scholarships for high school seniors, $3000 & $2000 respectively and also awarding two continuing education scholarships for the same amounts. Depending on the quality and quantity of applications, we may award additional scholarships at various levels. We look forward to continuing this every year.

These scholarships are possible due to generosity of our members, Community Partners, and our Annual Sponsors. Along with the Scholarship Program, we continue to sponsor the AUSA/MCoE Industry Day in April and “Benning Night” at the AUSA National Convention in October. These events showcase our efforts to link industry with government and serve as our sole fundraising activities for our Solider and family support programs. We are grateful to our 2019-2021 Benning Night Sponsors (multi-year sponsor extension based on COVID):

Platinum Level: BAE Systems, John Cockerill Defense America, Leonardo DRS, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems, Textron Systems and Bell
Gold Level: AeroVironment, Point Blank Enterprises
Silver Level: Hutchinson, General Dynamics Land Systems, General Dynamics OTS, Bose, American Freedom Foundation, FLIR, Columbus Georgia Chamber of Commerce
Bronze Level: National Infantry Association – Idaho National Laboratory – GarryOwen LLC, Rocky Kmiecik LLC – Soucy International – Ultra Electronics – Polaris Government & Defense

We hope you will consider being a chapter sponsor for 2021-2022 and our 2021 Benning Night.

We remain committed to our general membership and industry luncheons and hope to start these in-person events soon. These forums, featuring dynamic speakers from the MCoE and local community, serve as an informative bridge between the Army, our industry partners, and our membership. Watch out for announcements via email for these monthly events.

Industry Day 2021 was another virtual event, but for Industry Day 2022 we are looking to get back to in-person, 5-7 April 2022, and keeping the highly successful format from 2019 and previous, staying away from as much “large group” as possible with more breakout sessions with the MCoE & MCDID leadership. This will give the focus we need for both small and large industries to get more out of the conference. We are also keeping the additional day on the backside for one-on-one meetings with specific MCoE and MCDID staff personnel. We hope you will be able to attend next year.

Our Chapter runs on the efforts of our volunteers. I personally want to thank them for their efforts in helping us support the Soldiers and families of Fort Benning, GA. The Chapter also benefits greatly from its members. I would like to thank the members of our Chapter for their continued membership support and encourage everyone to renew their membership with our Chapter. Our Chapter membership represents our ability to influence our National Headquarters and ask them to continue to be the best advocate possible for the Soldiers and families represented in our Chapter. I would also like to encourage all members of our Industry family to become Community Partners of our Chapter. Community Partnership is an excellent way to show your support of Fort Benning and demonstrates that your business is a proud supporter of the Soldiers and families assigned to the Fort Benning area.

Again, thank you for everything you do to support the Soldiers and families of Fort Benning, and the Chattahoochee Valley / Fort Benning AUSA Chapter.
